The Danger of Profaning God’s Perpetual Covenant

The warnings of God have been perpetual from the beginning. The Lord’s lovingkindness has remained with His people throughout time. Surely, in the midst of chastening, there is comfort, in the midst of warning, there is safety. Our Good Father allows us the choice to take heed or go our own way. Those who are wise in humility trust in our God and King with all of our hearts, minds, and souls. We rest in our Yeshua Who Is our Savior and Salvation. The everlasting Mohed Kadosh, the holy appointed times as per The Law of God [which is His Instruction], is given according to The Holy Scriptures in many passages from Genesis to Revelation. He also condenses the umbrella of His statutes within The Ten Commandments [Command #4, “Remember The Sabbath day, to keep it holy.”].

It would do us well to meditate on The Word of God day and night so that when the appointed times come we will be watching, praying, rejoicing/praising, and meeting with The Lord physically and spiritually in Rememberance of Yeshua and His Finished Work. (Leviticus 23, Isaiah 58, Exodus 20).

This is evidence of revelation through The Holy Spirit in honoring The Father and Sonobedience.

Exodus 20:8-11 NKJV

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

In Exodus 31:12-18 we read about The Sabbath Law:

The Sabbath Law
12 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 13 “Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies[a] you. 14 You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone who [b]profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. 15 Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. 16 Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant. 17 It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.’ ”

18 And when He had made an end of speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.

In verse 14 we see the word profane used. We also see the severe penalty for violating The Holy Convocation of Shabbat.

Again, verse 14 says:
You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people.

YourDictionary.com defines the word profane as…

To violate, as anything sacred; to treat with abuse, irreverence, obloquy, or contempt; to desecrate; to pollute; as, to profane the name of God; to profane the Scriptures, or the ordinance of God.

In the Strong’s Concordance, the Hebrew word used is “Chol” which means profaneness and commonness.

There are seven scriptures where the word Chol is found. But there is only one scripture where the word is translated as common which can be found in 1 Samuel 21:1-6 which tells of David and The Holy Bread; where David while on route regarding a private mission for which he was sent on by the king, spoke to Ahimelech the priest who was tending to the tabernacle.

This event signifies that although the word “common” is used, it still shows that the bread being spoken of is holy bread and therefore it is set apart for God until the time it would be replaced. However, because God knew David’s heart and in hearts of the other young men who traveled with him (who were also abstinent), it was permitted for him and the other men to eat the holy shewbread that was being replaced by fresh consecrated bread before The Lord for they were deemed holy for their obedience to The Lord and His statues.

1 Samuel 21:1-6 NKJV says:

Now David came to Nob, to Ahimelech the priest. And Ahimelech was afraid when he met David, and said to him, “Why are you alone, and no one is with you?”

2 So David said to Ahimelech the priest, “The king has ordered me on some business, and said to me, ‘Do not let anyone know anything about the business on which I send you, or what I have commanded you.’ And I have directed my young men to such and such a place. 3 Now therefore, what have you on hand? Give me five loaves of bread in my hand, or whatever can be found.”

4 And the priest answered David and said, “There is no [a]common bread on hand; but there is holy bread, if the young men have at least kept themselves from women.”

5 Then David answered the priest, and said to him, “Truly, women have been kept from us about three days since I came out. And [c]the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in effect common, even though it was consecrated in the vessel this day.”

6 So the priest gave him holy bread; for there was no bread there but the showbread which had been taken from before the Lord, in order to put hot bread in its place on the day when it was taken away.

From this passage, we can see that although the word “common” is used it is in relation to profane both deriving from the Hebrew word Chol and also the scripture shows a distinction between common bread and holy bread. That which is common is unholy. That which is opposite of God is ungodly.

We’ve seen this distinction in many passages in the Bible such as righteousness and unrighteousness….Obedience and Disobedience.

God makes it clear and concise that to be apart from Him is the opposite of Good…for He alone is GoodHe alone is The One Who can declare what is holy and unholy.

There are 5 other excerpts which contain this word Chol, that is found in:

Brown-Driver-Briggs
חֹל noun [masculine] profaneness, commonness; — לֶחֶם חֹל 1 Samuel 21:5, דֶּרֶךְ חֹל V:6; in concrete sense, opposed to קֹדֶשׁ Leviticus 10:10 (P), Ezekiel 22:26; Ezekiel 42:20; Ezekiel 44:23; Ezekiel 48:15.

Each scripture shows a difference between holy and profane. It shows profane as the opposite of holiness. It is apart from God, oppositesinfuldarknessabomination.

When we revisit Exodus 31:12-18, we can see that to be apart from God is unholinesssin..deathdarkness, and every other vile contrast.

This tells us that profane which is the word used in verse 14 is showing a level of severity and a penalty congruent with this act of blasphemy.

Another definition of profane is:

relating or devoted to that which is not sacred or biblical; secular rather than a relationship with The Lord.

Why is the harsh consequence of death imposed on those who do not keep the Sabbath holy?

When a person for instance says or believes that God’s Instruction detailed in the Old Testament is done away with or is not relevant to modern-day believers, not only are they failing to realize the difference between God’s Law which is His Instruction, and 613 statues of Mosiac Law as well as Noahide Laws (which is doctrine upheld in the ancient form which also includes incorporating rabbinic writings of traditions of men observed by the Rabbinic/Orthodox Jews who have not received The Revelation of Jesus Christ as of yet. Also, failing to acknowledge or accept The Lord’s Feasts and the entirety of The Ten Commandments and The Holy Scriptures including the ideology of replacing Jews with Christians is a falsehood that absolutely needs correction for this is one of the reasons for scriptures such as Hosea 4:6)

Hosea 4:6 NKJV
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
Because you have rejected knowledge,
I also will reject you from being priest for Me;
Because you have forgotten the law of your God,
I also will forget your children.

Did You Know?

The early followers of Yeshua were not called Christians.

In this notion of not partaking in the Mohed Kadosh, the holy rehearsal and convocation of The Lord, and for that matter failing to embrace and acknowledge Yeshua through The Feasts of God, people are ultimately making a bold decision with their salvation & sanctification. They are saying physically and spiritually to God that they don’t know Him and they refuse to obey His Light…His Word His Holy Scriptures.

The unbelieving or blinded actions of the masses show an unwillingness to honor our God and King in Their Fullness.

This gesture or act is by The Lord’s Word and Holy Standard profane. This means that the result of this kind of disobedience proves their lack of love for God and this results in a penalty of death, cutting them off from His people.

By The Lord’s Holy Standard…not keeping Sabbath according to Exodus 31:12-18, is a profane act which is:

Irreverence, contempt, ungodly, godless, temporal, worldly, secular, disrespectful, violating, defilement, desecration…to treat something sacred (i.e. Shabbat) with abuse.

This is the cause for the level of recourse that one would sustain because God’s Word is important, holy, sacred, undefiledeverything opposite of profane.

May believers not be found in violation of the statutes of God for His Word never returns void.

Ponder…Selah.
How can the Old Testament be done away with when it confirms the NT and the OT prophecies are still coming to pass?

This should be an indicator that God’s Holy Feasts are to be respected, acknowledge, and observed. We have a responsibility as ambassadors in Yeshua our Messiah, children of The Living God to show up in His appointed time which has been set apart for a people who are Chosen, Elect, Unique, and Peculiar.

When someone denies God’s Holy Convocations…they deny their gift of Yeshua…they deny and break the Covenant with God which is designated for His people engrafted in the Olive Tree.

In following our Messiah King, we must denounce the unsound doctrine of demons that has deceived the masses into desecrating God’s Holy Days.

I implore you…do not think that The Law and Prophets are done away with. This misunderstanding is out of context, incorrect, and not biblical at all.

A brother in Yeshua out of Israel always says when teaching…” to understand the back of the Book, you must first understand the front of the Book.”

This statement is so true for Yeshua has confirmed all things from His Father Above through Spirit and in Truth from Genesis to Revelation.

Again, I implore you…
Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand and be reconciled unto the Father through Yeshua our Messiah King.

The One Who has come and is coming again…blessed is He who comes in The name of The Lord.

Show His Holy Spirit is dwelling among you and within your vessel[Feast of Tabernacles], which if you love Him should be a holy tabernacleliving and sacrificed daily all for His Glory.

Hallelujah!

Show you are set apart by obeying our Father and His Beloved Son. Receive the gift of Yeshua according to Isaiah 56 and partake in the Millenial Reign[Eternal Sabbath] with your fellow kings and priests for 1000 years [as like One Holy Appointed Day] with the Ultimate Sacrificial Lamb[Eternal Marriage Feast of The Lamb], our Messiah King reigning in all of His Majesty with His Brideforever and ever.

Amen!

May those who truly love The Lord accept His gift of Salvation and His gift of Shabbat.

May we rejoice in The Lord’s Feasts and in this holy appointed time partake in…

The Feast of Trumpets as a Remembrance and Celebration of Jesus Christ.

Shalom (Peace).

Be holy for He Is Holy.
