It’s always wonderful when we can come together as the Assembly of God and hear messages from The Lord through His servants.
However, the commonality is that in hearing the message the moment of clarity, peace, and understanding passes & gives way to perpetual behaviors of allowing the agendas of our daily lives to supersede the duty in the teachings. Surely we can have remembrance of what we’ve heard and what we’ve learned but it will do us no good if we are not putting that wisdom into action.
When we understand that salvation is a gift but sanctification is a process and part of that process is the action of walking in faith, then we will go to new heights and levels… diving deeper in our relationship with God. Hearing and not doing leaves us bobbling on the surface of the waters but if we want to go into the depths we have to see the Truth in layers which requires a pairing of hearing the word and then showing the evidence of obedience in love which is the action of our faith in Yeshua.
It is necessary to not be complacent in our walk with Christ for if we do not have the action then we are standing still in the midst of our journey and how can we get to a place of true repentance or reconciliation if we do not uphold this facet which is within the framework of our faith?
The ability to believe without seeing and yet having the tenacity to endure the good fight of faith with good courage produces the fruit of one who not only hears the word but professes the vow of following Christ and also living up to that word by showing the action in meaning what you say.
May we remember today that with every good work that is shown through the hearing of The Word of God we must not be complacent in holding onto the seed (heaven forbid) we must go forth and plant the seed in good soil that The Lord will see our good work and reward us with the fruitfulness of that vine of that tree with treasures in heaven.
Ezekiel 33:30-33 NKJV
Hearing and Not Doing
30 “As for you, son of man, the children of your people are talking about you beside the walls and in the doors of the houses; and they speak to one another, everyone saying to his brother, ‘Please come and hear what the word is that comes from the Lord.’ 31 So they come to you as people do, they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words, but they do not do them; for with their mouth they show much love, but their hearts pursue their own gain. 32 Indeed you are to them as a very lovely song of one who has a pleasant voice and can play well on an instrument; for they hear your words, but they do not do them. 33 And when this comes to pass—surely it will come—then they will know that a prophet has been among them.”
Be holy for He Is Holy.
